ISO 20000 IT Service Management Systems

ISO 20000 {ITSM) is the international standard for quality management specifically focused around IT service management. ISO 20000:2011 (the latest version of ISO 20000) provides a set of standardised requirements for an IT Service Management System (SMS). Given how vital IT is to organisations, it is essential that both your internal and external IT services are aligned with the needs of your businesses and customers.

An increasing number of organisations are implementing an IT Service Management System (ITSMS), based around ISO 20000 as a solution to this business requirement. By certifying to the IT standard, companies are able to independently demonstrate to their customers that they are meeting (and sometimes exceeding) industry best practices.

Certification to ISO 20000 IT service management ensures that your day to day service delivery is carried out in a way that drives customer satisfaction through improved service and leads to on-going continuous improvement.

What Is ISO 20000?

ISO 20000 is the international best practice standard for IT Service Management. ISO 20000-1:2011, the current version of the standard, provides a set of standardised requirements for an IT service management system, known as an ITSMS.

  • ISO 20000 Certification process

Certification to ISO 20000 is a two stage process.
  • ISO 20000 Stage 1 (Pre-assessment)
  • ISO 20000 Stage 2 (Certification)
  • ISO 22000 Stage 1 is completed on site to determine if your system has met the minimum requirements of the standard and is capable of being audited.

ISO 22000 Stage 2 (once stage one is completed and you have made any necessary changes) is an audit of the effectiveness of the system. Both stages must be completed to become certified.

An ISO 20000 certificate lasts for 3 years and a company needs to undergo surveillance visit audits annually to maintain their ITSM 20000 certification.

After each stage, the Lead Auditor will prepare and deliver a comprehensive written audit report detailing the findings of the assessment. On successful completion of stages one and two, the auditor will recommend to our CAAC Certification Manager with the detailed report. The Certification Manager will review your file to ensure that the recommendation has been made in an impartial, fair and competent manner, and then the company will be informed of its status.

Once your organisation passes both stages, you will be officially certified to ISO 20000.
